What is the process for a green card (family sponsored) after the application is forwarded to the Embassy?

I have a priority date of May 02 (citizen sponsoring unmarried child over 21) and I was just informed that NVC has completed processing of my case and my file was forwarded to the embassy in my home country (Caribbean). I was wondering if anyone can share some information on what's next? When should I hear from the embassy? What are the other steps in this long process? Any ideas when the whole process should be completed and I should have my green card in my hand? Whether there is anything I can do while I wait - gather other required documents, police reports etc to maybe speed up this process?

Thanks for your time!!
